The Right Analysis using the Right Tools for the Right Data
The challenge of statistical analysis in modern medicine is to extrapolate results obtained from analyses of large study populations back to make a difference in the health outcome of a single patient (i.e. a sample size of one).
Just as Precision Medicine can be seen as the customization of healthcare where medical decisions, treatment and products are tailored to individualized patient response, so does BSSI’s Precision Statistics® approach provide individualized statistical strategies in the analyses of complex analytical questions. Just as the “one-size-fits-all” approach does not work in health care, so does the “one-size-fits-all” approach not work in the analyses of health care data.
Our Precision Statistics® approach applies a tailored solution to complex and multifaceted problems associated with the analyses and interpretation of health care data.
The Right Analysis
Different types of data that often have unique characteristics based on sampling biases, levels of missing information, censoring, unique study designs and specific regulatory requirements, cannot be forced into one box. Identification of the right analysis requires skilled and experienced statisticians who put the needs of the client first, take the time to understand the unique world the clients operates in, and provide the most appropriate analysis that addresses the unique environment specific to the client.
The Right Tools
Statistics is a tool in the hand of the clinical investigator. Just as a set of surgical instruments are life-saving in the hands of a skilled surgeon, so are statistical tools only valuable in the hands of a skilled statistician who knows which tools to use when and under what circumstances for each individual client.
The Right Data
Data is not perfect and we realize that this is part of the real life situation our clients find themselves in. It is our task to make sure that all efforts have been employed to ensure the data fulfills the highest quality standards to address the research needs of our clients. That is why we strive to provide our clients with a clear understanding of not only the limitations, but more importantly the strengths and opportunities their data have. We impute data where needed, identify patterns of missing data, provide data descriptions and apply the appropriate statistical tools that best suits each data set. Whether “Big Data” or a small data set, we understand the uniqueness of each data set and help our clients to make the most out of their data.
